Bluegrass MusiciansIn conjunction with Durango’s 15th Bluegrass Meltdown, we are offering “The Bluegrass Express!” Ride in the comfort of one of our Premium-class cars behind a steam locomotive on the train to Cascade Canyon while listening to live bluegrass music of the Duke City Swampcoolers! Six entertainers will rotate among the 3 cars reserved just for Bluegrass Express guests. They will also play for all passengers during the 45-minute layover at Cascade Canyon. Once you get back to Durango there will be a FREE concert in the D&SNG Museum from 5pm-7pm to officially kick off the start of the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown.

The Durango Bluegrass Meltdown is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of bluegrass music as an American art form. Since 1995, they have been presenting a unique experience in Durango, the gem of Southwest Colorado. Schedule:
Departure: 10:00 am from Durango Bluegrass band Museum
Return: 3:00 pm to Durango

There will be attendants in each Bluegrass Express car to serve complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and premium amenities. A cash bar is also available.


Update! Weather is predicted to be fantastic on Friday! We have arranged to have our premium-class gondola, The Rio Grande in the consist! Passengers and musicians alike will enjoy the open air!
