Guided Snowmobile Adventure

We had a GREAT snowmobiling season and hope you had the opportunity to enjoy this package! It ended April 5, 2014 but please keep us in mind for the 2014-15 winter season.

Experience TWO adventures in the same day! Take a vintage steam train ride to Cascade Canyon and then extend your winter fun with a guided snowmobile trip in the San Juan National Forest at over 10,000 feet in elevation!

Train/Snowmobile tour: Begin your adventure as you depart Durango aboard the 10:00am D&SNG steam train bound for the wilderness location of the Cascade Canyon Wye. You will arrive at Cascade at 12:00pm and have 45 minutes to eat lunch or explore the area along the river. After an hour train ride returning toward Durango, you will detrain at the Rockwood flagstop to meet your shuttle driver. You will be shuttled to the Ice Pirates Snowmobile Tours outpost on Molas Pass where you will be matched with your snowmobile and begin your 2-hour tour with experienced guides. But the fun's not over yet! Arrrgh! Receive your "Ice Pirates Booty Bag" for snacks and hot cocoa as you wind down and share your stories. You will be shuttled back to Durango to arrive at the D&S Parking Lot around 6:00pm.

Schedule:
Leave Durango on train at 10:00am
Arrive Cascade Canyon at 12:00pm
Leave Cascade Canyon at 1:05pm
Arrive Rockwood 1:50pm to board shuttle
Arrive Molas Pass Outpost 2:45pm
Leave Molas Pass Outpost 5:00pm
Arrive D&SNG Parking Lot 6:00pm

Train/Snowmobile Package Rates:
Single Rider:
One Adult on single sled $228.49*
Double Sled:
Two adults: $176.55* per adult
One adult and one child: Adult $176.55* ~ Child $149.80*  
*includes 6% Land Management Permit Fee and 7% Historic Preservation Fee
Sorry, no children under 4 years old on this winter adventure!
  

MUST KNOW:
Drivers: Can be any adult age 18 years and over. Drivers aged 16 and 17 must show valid driver's license.
For your safety, all snowmobilers are required to wear provided helmets.
Minimum age is 5 years old to ride.
We recommend dressing in layers of warm winter clothing, snow boots, mittens and hat. Ice Pirates will have snowmobile suits and boots available for use but sizes will be limited.
Maximum weight per sled is 350 pounds.
Guests must sign Liability Release. Download and complete it in the comfort of your home and bring it with you when you meet your driver. This will also save time and get you on the snow trails sooner!
