Cascade Canyon Winter Train 2010

Ride the steam train 52 miles round trip through the San Juan National Forest in the comfort of heated coaches. This wilderness destination is the perfect setting for a fire-side lunch, photo opportunities, or a walk along the Animas River.
Lunch items are available for purchase on our concession car.

You may also pre-order fresh made daily Tamale lunches, which feature locally grown, organic ingredients. These $10 Tamale lunches include dessert and drink and may be ordered up until 4:00 pm the day before your ride by calling 888-872-4607.

Summer/Fall 2010

Daily excursions to Silverton operate May 8 - October 30, 2010. Dates vary with each class of service. Prices range from $81* - $169* for adults. Childs' tickets are $49* for Standard Class. Take a ride on this authentic coal-fired, steam-powered time machine -- make your reservation today!

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is proud to offer Presidential, First, Deluxe, and Standard-Class seating in our fleet of vintage cars.

While riding aboard our Presidential or First-Class cars, you will be hosted by a knowledgeable attendant who will provide complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and custom first-class amenities.

Classes of Service

The first step in booking your steam rail adventure is choosing your car. With four classes of service, you are sure to find a car you'll love.

Presidential Class (Age 21 and over)

The Victorian splendor of a bygone era awaits you onboard two of the most legendary and historic private cars to ever grace the narrow gauge rails. The Nomad and Cinco Animas both offer two distinctively appointed seating areas, plus the Nomad also features a stateroom for four. A large outdoor viewing platform is exclusively available to those who choose this class.

First Class

Ride in historic comfort and style on one of our First-Class cars. You will be hosted by a knowledgeable attendant who will provide complimentary morning pastries, non-alcoholic beverages and custom first-class amenities.

Alamosa (Age 21 and over)

Deluxe Class

The Rio Grande, the San Juan Coach, and Prospector Family Car are three of the most recently refurbished cars in our fleet. For those with families or just those looking for added comfort, these Premium options both offer larger seats and a more adult atmosphere than Standard class.
