The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is again the proud HotAir Balloonssponsor of the Snowdown Balloon Rally Mass Ascension on Snowdown Saturday, (February 1, 2014). As part of the celebration, the D&SNGRR is running the Snowdown Balloon Rally Train. The train will stop in the Animas Valley for the colorful hot-air balloon mass ascension, offering passengers the chance to view the mass ascension from the comfort of heated train coaches. If they choose, passengers can also get off the train for 15-20 minutes to get a better view of the balloons.Balloon train

After the balloons drift off or land, the train will continue on to Cascade Canyon for a short break by the Animas River before returning to Durango.

Lunch, snacks, beverages, bar drinks and souvenirs are available for purchase on the concession car on the train.

Schedule:Train at Cascade

Train departs Durango at 8:00 a.m.
Returns to Durango approximately 1:30 p.m.

Restrooms are available in every Coach and Premium car.

Parking is available in the D&SNG Parking Lot on College Drive. Cost is $4 per vehicle. RV and trailer parking is $7 (no overnight camping per city municipal code).

Balloon launch is dependent on weather conditions. The decision to launch is made by the pilots and is often not determined until the train has left Durango. The D&SNGRR assumes no liability if the balloons do not launch. The train will make its run to Cascade Canyon even if the balloons remain grounded. Refunds will not be made if balloons do not launch.
