Locomotive 493: Work continues on its conversion from coal-fired to oil-fired
Here is the rundown of recent work:
Approximately 175 flexible staybolts have been added so far. We’re a little over 1/3 done with the flexible staybolt conversion part of the project.
Anthony Maze welding in sleeves for the flexible staybolts on one side of Locomotive 493.
Spring rigging is almost done and ready for reassembly.
Fire pan has been designed on AutoCad by mechanical engineer, Larry Carlson
Tender and front end beam completed
Charlie Moore completing one end beam
Drivers re-contoured and counterweights being pressed back on Quartering in progress and driver boxes machine work in progress.
Joel Mason finishing up metal work on the Locomotive 493 cab.
