Originally built in 1880 and having undergone several rebuilds over the next 134 years, this car debuted in 2014 as the “Yankee Girl”, named after the largest mine in the Red Mountain Mining District north of Silverton, Colorado. It has undergone a complete remodel focused on maintaining the old-fashioned flair of the 1880s while providing the comfort and conveniences of the 21st century. Luxurious Victorian-Era touches include woodwork created from Mahonany, Oak and African Bird’s-eye Maple, custom wrought-iron scrollwork, and stamped-tin ceiling panels. Your private attendant will be there to answer questions, serve beverages and let you know when the best photo opportunities are coming!
The Yankee Girl is scheduled for the 9:30am departure to Silverton allowing you a more relaxed morning in Durango; plenty of time to enjoy that extra cup of coffee before your arrival at the depot. Step back into the Gilded Age when railroads opened up the continent and provided first-class passage into the American West. The conversation is sure to be stimulating, scenery breathtaking and the experience unforgetable.

We are fully open for operations and our 2022 summer season is off to a wonderful and robust start. We experienced a brief pause in railroad operations over three days while we worked through communications with the Forest Service on our operating status while observing agreed upon fire precautions. Concurrently, we were able to rebook passengers to adjacent days when train excursions were operating.
We are now operating daily and our train schedule is in fact expanding as we move deeper into the summer season.
Please know that if we experience any interruptions in service due to future fire precaution levels, we will reach out to all of our guests in a most timely manner to offer information and alternatives.
Thank you”
